Storyboard Text

  • I must establish a new city
  • AHH!!! HELP!!!
  •
  • Welcome to Carthage
  • Aeneas was given a quest to establish a new city for the Trojans after the Greeks had destroyed Troy. Aeneas follows the will of Jupiter even though he is sometimes tempted to sway from it
  • This relationship is weird
  • Juno hates Aeneas because Paris chose Aphrodite over her as the most beautiful goddess. As Aeneas and his men approached Italy, Juno made Aeolus unleash a storm, which set them off course and were wrecked off the coast of Libya
  • Hello son!
  • Please forgive me
  • They met the Queen of Carthage, Dido who welcomed them. Aeneas told her of what happened at the siege of Troy and how he managed to save his father. The Trojans landed on Delos but Apollo told them he must settle on the land of his forefathers. Aeneas thought this was Crete. The gods visited him in a dream and told him his true homeland was Italy.
  •
  • Do you want to marry my daughter, Lavinia?
  • Dido was emotionally moved by Aeneas' story and they became in love with each other. Dido assumed they were married and tried to make Aeneas stay in Carthage.  As Aeneas sailed away Dido jumped onto a funeral pyre. This story was an attempt made by Virgil to explain the weird relationship between Rome and Carthage
  • Aeneas visited the underworld. He met his father Anchisis and Dido. He tried to aplologise to her but she refused to speak to him.
  • When Aeneas arrived in Italy he met Latinus , king of the Latins, and offered him his daughter in marrige. However her daughter Lavinia was already married to Turnus, a Laytin warlord. Eventually Aeneas defeated Turnus in battle.
