  • No! It is worth 50,000 pesos!
  • It is only worth 1,000 pesos!
  • It is a peaceful morning with Kino awake and Juana lying next to him. The "Song of the Family" plays in Kino's ears on this peaceful morning.
  • Falling action: shocked, angry
  • Coyotito has gotten stung by a scorpion and they have gone to the unhelpful doctor. Later that day Kino has found a pearl so perfect, they call it the "pearl of the world."
  • Resolution: sadness, despair
  • The pearl buyers want to buy the pearl for an unfair price so Kino and Juana have set off for the capital where they hope to sell the pearl.
  • One of the nights Kino and Juana see some hunters and they think they are coming after them so Kino tries to go down and kill them. But the hunter with a rifle hears Coyotito and thinks he is a coyote and he shoots his gun and kills him.
  • Kino and Juana return home and Kino throws the pearl into the sea after all that has happened since he got it.
