static shock aka Virgil Ovid Hawkins is a student in Dakota city and was bullied in school and had a typical hood environment with gangs and racial discrimination
one day Virgil had no choice but to help in some gang activities in a warehouse when a he was exposed to a experimental mutagen in an event know as the big bang this is where Virgil got his power of electricity and would be known as static shock
the static shock TV show that aired on kids' WB in september 23, 2000 and it hit very important topics at the time and the every day life of a black teenager growing up and how people effect him in his everyday life too
Dwayne McDuffle was born and raised in Detroit Michigan on February 20, 1962 but sadly past away on February 21, 2011 due to his heart. Dwayne graduated from the University of Michigan in 1983 with his bachelor's and would later to work with Milestone comics where he could express a multicultural sensibility that he felt was missing in comics.
after he mad static shock DC brought the rights to Milestone comics and all it's characters so static was in a weird position where he people didn't know if he was apart of DC but he would make a cameo in the TV shows and DC characters would also come into his show.
static can be compared to Kamila as such they both are trapped to live this double life because of their cultural beliefs and how people react to them on a daily bases. For example Kamila has to be a obedient girl but still has to be a super hero where as static has to deal with racism and inequality and have to not let that effect his super hero work
