  • My approach to Latin America was known as the “Big Stick,” which came to be the Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine.
  • We, the United States, are willing to take on the role of being the world police.
  • My people, I am afraid that other countries might start a fight with the European powers.
  • This means that the U.S. must intervene.
  • We must strengthen our   military forces to gain stability and to instill fear into other nations.
  • The Roosevelt Corollary acted as a justification for America to intervene in foreign affairs. 
  • This is the Panama Canal. This cut out 7,872 miles by avoiding the trip around South America. This canal symbolized our economic power.
