Storyboard Text

  • Bye Mom! I'm going to the game with my friends and taking the car!
  • The development of Emotional Autonomy is important for the mental health of adolescents. This includes them becoming more independent from their parents.
  • I should take you. I don't want you doing something you shouldn't be doing.
  • When parents are too controlling of their adolescent kids, adolescents are more likely to rebel and have mental and emotional problems.
  • You should trust me like last time! I brought the car back fine before and came home on time!
  • That's true. Just continue to be responsible and careful then. I trust you!
  • Adolescents that are supported in their increase of Emotional Autonomy by their parents have better self-esteem, are more responsible, and have close relationships with their parents.
  • Thanks Mom! I won't let you down! I'll be responsible and won't do anything I'm not supposed to!
