Storyboard Text

  • Jack Roosevelt Robinson was born on January 31st, 1919, in Cairo, Georgia, in a sharecropping community. His dad ran off with a neighbor's wife months after he was born. He was the youngest of five in his family.
  • "Welcome to the world, baby Jack!"
  • Jackie Robinson started in Brooklyn for the Dodgers at the age of 28. He was the black person in the MLB so, therefore, he broke the color barrier for the MLB.
  • Jackie Robinson was the first black MLB player so, therefore, he broke the color barrier of the MLB.
  • I just hit my first homer!
  • While Jackie Robinson was playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers, he and his team went to only-white restaurants so he couldn't go in. His coach stood up for him and said that if he doesn't get to eat, then none of them are eating at all.
  • Com'on man! I want to eat!
  • Jackie Robinson retired from the MLB at the age of 38, just ten years after he started. He had a batting average of 31% and 1518 homers at the end of his career, so he wasn't an all-star, but he was really good at the game of baseball.
  • Bye, everybody! I'll miss you! Thanks for the support!
