Storyboard Text

  • Teacher-Student conflict
  • No, I want centres!
  • Alright everyone, we are going to explore the shapes at our table.  Show me how you will sort them using their similarities.
  • Oh no here we go again.  Sarah never listens to the teacher.  She distracts me and I can't focus.
  • You can't tell me what to do.  I don't like you.
  • That is enough Sarah!  You need to listen and do as your told.  All the other children are working nicely.  Now go get started!
  • Thank you for coming back on time Sarah.  I am glad you have returned to the green zone.  I know how much you like to draw, would you like to draw the way you sort the shapes?  I have the ball for you to sit on to help you regulate.
  • I don't like when Mrs. Ralfs yells.  I wish Sarah would listen.
  • You don't even care about me.  I hate this class.
  • I just wish she would listen.  I am so tired of this and don't know what else to do.
  • I am going to call Ms. Smith and you will be going to the office.  You will miss centres.
  • Yes, centres is next on our visual schedule.  I will set the timer for 10 minutes and then we will clean up.  I am proud of you Sarah. Jason, can I come and see how you have sorted your shapes?
  • I hope Sarah is calm when she comes back.  I don't like when she doesn't listen.
  • An approach to solve the conflict
  • I will take the sensory break first.  I don't like sorting shapes.
  • Sarah you appear to be in the yellow zone.  You have the choice of starting now or taking a five minute sensory break first.
  • Alright everyone, we are going to explore the shapes at our table.  Show me how you will sort them using their similarities.
  • 5 Minutes later
  • Oh good, I am glad Sarah is being nice to Mrs. Ralfs.
  • Thank you I feel better.  I would like to draw.
  • Can I go to centres when I am done?
  • Thanks Mrs. Ralfs I would like to show you!
