  • What's wrong with me doctor?
  • Sir you have AIDS and will have to take antiretroviral therapy before its too late.
  • Yes, but i didn't think it would go this far.
  • Have you had any sexual contact lately?
  • You could have avoided this by using a condom, considering (PrEP) and male circumcision.
  • Thank you doc, I will see you next week for antiretroviral therapy.
  • This therapy will last for the rest of your life. But this is the only way for you to live.

  • HIV is a sexually transmitted infection (STI). It can also be found in contact with infected blood or from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth or breast-feeding. Without medication, it may take years before HIV weakens your immune system to the point that you have AIDS.
  • To help prevent the spread of HIV, use treatment as prevention (TasP), use post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) if you've been exposed to HIV, use a new condom every time you have sex, consider preexposure prophylaxis (PreP), tell your sexual partners if you have HIV, and consider male circumcision.
  • AIDS is a chronic, potentially life-threatening condition caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). By damaging your immune system, HIV interferes with your body's ability to fight infection and disease.
