  • The tragic hero is Willy Loman and he is the tragic hero because he chose to follow the wrong American dream that ultimately led to his death.
  • Peripeteia
  • Willy's tragic flaw or his hamartia is how in order to be successful you must be well liked and be well known.
  • Anagnorisis
  • There are no good seeds left in this world.
  • Willy shows excessive pride when he is fired from his job and Charley offers him a job and refuses to take it because he already has a job which he does not.
  • Catharsis
  • Willy you're fired!!!!!
  • Willy's peripeteia is when Biff goes to the restaurant to have dinner but he ended up not getting the loan that he asked for. Plus Willy just got fired from his job to make it even worse for him.
  • Willy experiences an anagnorisis when willy is planting seeds in the garden and he states, "There are no good seeds left in this world." Meaning that everything that he has done has been wrong and how he can't take any of it back.
  • The point in time where the audience should feel a catharsis is when Wily is fired from his job. This shows catharsis because it makes the audience feel bad for Willy because he has been working for the company for 34 years.
