Storyboard Description

This is a storyboard for the short story "The Veldt" by Ray Bradbury. I really enjoyed this story and loved wondering what would happen next. It has very creepy undertones throughout, but the reader would never expect what happens in the conclusion. I can't believe that the 'sweet & innocent ten-year-olds' are the true antagonists in this story. They brutally murder their parents with the help of mechanical lions whom exist in a crystalline room of screens. Overall, I'd give this story a 10/10. "The Veldt" is unique and keeps the reader submerged in the story until the last word.

Storyboard Text

  • George and Lydia Hadley were concerned about the state of their mechanical nursery
  • George, I wish you'd look at the nursery.
  • The nursery had conjured up an African veldt
  • And here were the lions now, fifteen feet away, so real, so feverishly and startlingly real...
  • The parents were hesitant to shut off their electronic 'necessities' for the sake of their children
  • I feel like I don't belong here. The house is wife and mother now.
  • When I punished Peter a month ago by locking the nursery for even a few hours - oh the tantrum he threw!
  • David, a psychologist, came to examine the gruesome nursery scene
  • This room is their mother and father, far more important in their lives than their real parents.
  • George Hadley was sick of relying on technology, and decided that they'd be better off without it. The children were furious
  • The whole damn house dies as of here and now!
  • I wish you were dead!
  • You can't be so cruel...
  • The lions mouths dripped with fresh blood, and the vultures swarmed above to devour the meatless bones
  • Where are your father and mother?
  • Oh, they'll be here directly...
