Muhammad was born about the year 570 CE. He belonged to the Banu Hashim clan, part of the Quraysh tribe, one of Mecca‘s prominent families. Months later his father Abdullah died.
“Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased.”
When Muhammad was in his teens he began journeying with his Uncle Syrian, as he traveled he met a christian monk who foresaw him becoming a prophet of God
Upsetting Social Order
Around the time of Muhammad this landscape was filled with towns and cities the most well know cities during the year 600 CE was Mecca and Medina.
Beginning of something new
Muhammad began to preach from the Quran and began a thought that was the basis for Islam saying that was "submission to God's will". He then began to spread beliefs from the Islam religion which changed the commercial life in Mecca.
Muhammad's teaching's began to cause great conflicts in his hometown of Mecca, Meccan clans attempted to assassinate him and destroy his followers, the resistance to these attacks was the first jihad.
Muhammad and his followers were forced to leave Mecca, he than began a ummah, which was composed of a variety of people and beliefs a pluralistic community, unifying many beliefs and cultures in peaceful coexistence in Medina.
