Storyboard Text

  • Beginning: Childlike
  • Look at my beautiful marigolds
  • Middle: Transitioning
  • End: AdultLike
  • Lizabeth would act childlike by "whizzing pebbles" at Mrs.Lottie's marigolds.  Lizabeth "lost her head entirely, mad with power...."  and led an attack on Mrs.Lottie's marigolds. Although Lizabeth knew whizzing pebbles at the marigolds was wrong she did it anyway to enjoy her fun.
  • Lizabeth transitioning from child to adult. Lizabeth destroyed the marigolds out of "these feelings combined in one great impulse toward destruction." Lizabeth knew that after destroying the marigolds she couldn't undo what she did.
  • Lizabeth from child to adult has brought her the thought that she lost her innocence. The loss of innocence as meaning unseeing acceptance of things at face value, ignorance of the area below the surface."
