Storyboard Text

  • Despite having a good relationship with Parliament, Charles II felt like he wasn't getting enough money. So he made an agreement with France, and would promote Catholicism and support French ideals for 200,000 pounds a year.
  • Ye Olde Brothel
  • When word of this arrangement got out, people panicked and tried to pass a bill denying succession to roman Catholics, but Charles quickly dissolved Parliament.
  • After Charles II came James II who did not use Parliament at all, and granted religious freedom to all. When bishops tried to stop him, they all ended up in the Tower of London
  • Eventually, James' second wife produced an heir for the catholic dynasty. Displeased by this, the people appointed James' daughter Mary and her Husband William onto the throne. James and his wife fled to France.
  • With William and Mary on the throne, Absolute Monarchism was abolished, and they appointed a SUPREME  Parliament which guaranteed that the king ruled with consent of the governed.
  • To Be Continued...
