- A Young slave born in the summer of 1743 Toussaint being taught by his father the story of the people and their value boyond where they wedre.
- Son I was born in the home of our people we are worth much more than to be property ruled by others.
- Years later during his time as an adult uniting a slave revolution to take control of Saint Dominque. The only successful slave revolt in history. A great leader some call "Black Napoleon" characterized by his stunning victories despite his difficult cirumstances.
- L'Overture's story does not have a happy ending having his life ended after being betrayed by nApoleon when they were supposed to be discussing peace terms and was captured and shipped off to rot and die of starvation.
