Matt is the main character. He is very brave, kind, responsible, friendly, and caring.
Hi my name is Matt
I would rate this book 4 stars out of 5
Matt is very brave because he is left alone in a cabin. Matt is also very kind because he teaches Attean how to read. He is responsible because when his father is gone he does all his chores. He is very friendly because he is very nice to Ben. He is caring because he makes gifts for his family.
Hi my name is Attean
I would rate the book 4 stars out of 5 I liked it because I got to learn about the Native American culture. I didn’t like when Matt was reading the book because it wasn’t very exciting. My favorite part was when Matt and Attean encountered a bear!
The first part of the story is when Matt’s dad leaves Matt alone in the wilderness. After Matt's dad leaves, Matt meets a character named Ben. Ben steals his riffle.
The second part of the story is when Matt meets the Indians. Saknis is one of the Indians. He makes a treaty with Matt. Matt teaches Attean, an Indian boy, how to read, and Sakins agreesto give Matt food because Ben stole his gun.
Matt teaches Attean how to read, and Attean brings Matt food. Attean also helps Matt hunt his own food. They become good friends. One day, Attean tells Matt that he has to leave. A few days after Attean leaves, Matt's father comes home!
