Mars

Storyboard Text

  • Atmosphere
  • Excuse me where am I?
  • Hello earthling welcome to Mars. Allow my fellow aliens to fix your ship. Be sure to keep your helmet on the atmosphere here is very thin and mostly contains carbon dioxide, and our magnetic field is much less extensive than earth's.
  • Mars
  • Here on Mars our reddish color comes from the iron oxide located in the soil.  We also have a magnetic field that protects the surface from charged particles though it is much less extensive than that of earth.
  • On earth Mars's name comes from Ares the god of war. What else should I know?
  • Topography
  • Here on mars we have many short river beds, crater terrains, canyon systems, and dune fields.  We also have the highest mountains and deepest crates compared to any other planet, but there are much more in the highland.
  • Whats with all these crates?
  • Mars's atmosphere is mostly made up of carbon dioxide, but it also contains a small amount of nitrogen, oxygen, and argon. The atmosphere is very thin containing reddish, blue clouds and fog seen by sattelites. There is some water present in the atmosphere suggesting there may still be some cycling underground.
  • Volcanoes
  • Yes here on mars we have many volcanoes mainly in Tharsis Ridge. We believe the volcanoes formed and then increased from a late warming period by rising hot ballons of material deep within the forming land.
  • Mars has a reddish color caused by rust known as iron oxide located in the soil. Mars also has a less extensive magnetic field than earth. The Magnetic field protects the planet's surface from charged particles.
  • Moon
  • Here on mars we have 2 moons named Deimos and Phobos. We also have a much longer rotation being 24 hours and 37 minutes, and revolution being 1 year and 322 days compared to that of earths.
  • Mars doesn't have a flat terrain, but a dry, rocky surface with many river beds, crater terrains, dune fields, and canyon systems.  It has higher mountains and deeper canyons than any other planet. There are many craters in the highland suggesting it came before the lowland. Much of the water on mars is frozen into the ground and sometimes released when mars experiences warming in climate. Mars also has frozen polar caps and a large number of teardrop shaped lakes.
  • Location
  • We are the 4th planet in the solar system with a size of 2,106 and diameter of 4,212. We are about 56.6 kilometers away from your home plants.
  • Mars has many volcanoes, most found in what is known as Tharsis Ridge. It was most likely formed from a late warming period by rising hot ballons of material deep in the interior forming land on the surface and increasing the volcanic activity. The largest volcano in the entire solar system is on mars known as the shield volcano Olympus Mons. It’s 3 times the altitude of the largest peak on earth and as wide as the entire chain of Hawaiian islands.
  • Wow is that a volcano!?
  • Mars has 2 moons named Deimos and Phobos. The rotation of mars is 24 hours and 37 minutes longer than earth's while its revolution is 1 year and 322 days more than ours.
  • Whats with these moons?
  • Mars is the 4th planet in our solar system and behind the earth approximately 54.6 kilometers away from Earth. The size of Mars is 2,106 mi and it has a diameter of 4,212 mi.
  • So where exactly is Mars?
