Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • I really don't have a good feeling about the Nursery
  • Rising Action
  • " This house is a wife and a mother now, and a nursemaid."
  • Climax
  • "We're considering it." "I won't have any threats from my son!"
  • " Will you shut off the house sometime soon?"
  • " I don't think you'd better consider it any more, father."
  • The opening scene introduces George and Lydia addressing the issue of the Happylife Home’s nursery. The beginning presents the nursery as a problem thus instantly establishing a plot conflict. Technology in the exposition gives life to a obstacle to the Hadleys.
  • Falling Action
  • The children become overly attached to the nursery as they use it to experience a synthetically produced environment. Although the nursery offers great entertainment, the children begin to use it to create a realistic, but violent, African Veldt revealing a major change in the children’s mindset. Technology in this section of the story draws the children to develop an addiction.
  • Denouement
  • George threatens to shut down the nursery, causing a tension between him and his children. Technology plays a role in destroying a parent-child relationship.
  • Take-away About the Technology
  • The Hadely kids turn against George Hadely. Peter then tries to convince his parents that he has not thought much about Africa. Peters mother starts to believe that the room has no control it is to used to the African Plains scenery. The more George Hadely investigates the more he began to believe something was truly wrong with the room.

  • This story leaves behind the message that technology is not always something worth having because you as the user can take advantage of its capabilities leading to a detrimental addiction.
