Progress Report #3 by Scott Fitzgerald
A major theme that is displayed in this story is "Mind over Matter". This theme is developed throughout the story as all of his students start to struggle with their mental side of the game. Bob Rotella, the mind doctor working with the players try's to convice them on how important it is in golf to have a strong mind. He explains to them how in golf you do not have to hit the ball far, or be super strong physically, but you do have to have a strong mental side of the game.
This theme is introduced by Bob, on one of his very first students Tom Kite. Bob explains to Tom that he does not need to be such a long and far player, yet rather a more precise and accurate player on the course. Bob try's to get Tom to grasp the idea of "Mind over Matter", so he can get away from his mental block.
