Storyboard Text

  • Love Is In The Air
  •
  • Brother Butts In
  • "A violet in the youth of primy nature, forward, not permanent, sweet, not lasting. The perfume and suppliance of a minute, no more" (act 1 scene 3 line 5-10).
  • Father Is Speaking
  • "This is for all: I would not, in plain terms, from this time forth have you slander any moment leisure as to give words or talk with the Lord Hamlet" (act 1 scene 3 lines 132-135).
  • I will be displaying Ophelia's internal conflict in the play. Ophelia has a very strong love for Hamlet. This causes her to think about him all the time. For example in the text she says, "He hath, my lord of late made many tenders of his affection to me" (act 1 scene 3 lines 100-101).
  • Someone Is Acting Strange
  • AHHHHH!
  • This conversation is between Ophelia and her brother, Laertes. Laertes is expressing his opinion of Hamlet to her which is that Hamlet doesn't truly love her, he is only looking to use her. This creates an internal conflict because she wants to listen to her brother, but she loves Hamlet.
  • Madly In Love or Crazy?
  • Polonius: "Mad for thy love?"Ophelia: "My lord, I do not know, but truly I do fear it."act 2 scene 1 lines 86-88
  • Within in this conversation Polonius, Ophelia's father, gives his thoughts of Hamlet as well. He feels similar to Laertes, however is much more serious and strict about his feelings. Polonius sternly tells Ophelia that she is not to see Hamlet because he is not a good man for her, end of story.
  • Decisions, Decisions
  • In this scene, Ophelia went to talk to Hamlet, however, he is acting different than usual. Hamlet is acting crazy, which is stated in the play. It says, "At last, a little shaking of mine arm, an thrice his head thus waving up and down, he raised a sigh so piteous and profound" (act 2 scene 1 lines 93-95).
  • This scene portrays a conversation between Ophelia and her father, Polonius. Ophelia is explaining the situation that just happened between her and Hamlet. She says how he was acting very strange and she was terrified! However, Polonius thinks he is acting this way because he is madly in love.
  • This is the core of Ophelia's internal conflict. Should she follow her brother and fathers' orders of her or should she follow her love for Hamlet? We can see this when it says, "I shall the effect of this good lesson keep as watchman to my heart" (act 2 scene 3 lines 45-46) and this, "My lord, he hath importuned me with love in honorable fashion" (act 2 scene 3 lines 111-112).
  • Do I listen to my father and brother?
  • Do I listen to my heart?
