The witches chant spells and potions as they dance around the cauldron. The tone is mischievous, creepy, spooky, and vengeful. They are preparing to manipulate Macbeth. They have realized the Macbeth has not turned to the evil side to benefit the Witches, but for his own benefit. The Witches are ready to plot revenge on him.
Hecate, the goddess of witchcraft, enters to approve of the Witches vengeful plan. She states they will all benefit from the outcome and to celebrate.
Macbeth enters, insulting the Witches with names. He demands they tell him his future, whether it is good or bad. He asks to hear the news from their "masters'" instead.
