Alexander the Great was born on July 20, 356 B.C., in Pella, to Olympias and Philip II of Macedon.
Growing up, Alexander's father never really spent time with him. He grew up resenting his father.
Alexander had multiple tutors hired by his father, including Aristotle, Leonidas, and Lysimachis.
As a teen, Alexander enlisted in the army. His first military expedition was against the Thracian tribes.
Alexander became king at age 20 and conquered the Persian Empire at age 22.
Accomplishments: 1. At age 18 he helped his father to secure a victory at the Battle of Chaeronea 2. Within two years Alexander had conquered all of Greece 3. He conquered the Achaemenid Empire 4. He founded the city of Alexandria in 331 B.C. 5. He won the Battle of Hydaspes. 6. Throughout his lifetime, Alexander was undefeated in battle.
