Eurycleia offers to wash this "beggars" feet, but as she's washing she realizes that the "beggar" is actually Odysseus. She chooses not to say anything, and continues washing his feet like he's a normal person.
Odysseus starts to weep, for he realized his dog has died. 20 years he had this dog, and now he's gone. At this same time his wife comes.
