Odysseus and his men once arriving the island head toward the cyclopes is cave with gifts, by the time we had arrived he was gone so we entered the cave.
"Give me another, thank you kindly. Tell me how are you called? I'll make a gift will please you.(Odysseus Homer 264)
Odysseus and his men decided to stay in the cave and follow there Greek customs of helping themselves to cheese and bringing gifts for the Cyclops
Once the Cyclopes Polyphemus had returned he had eaten a few of our men and refused to honor the Greek customs of the gods.
"O hear me, lord, blue gridler of the islands, if I an thine indeed, and thou art father: grant that Odysseus raider of cities, never see his home: Laertes' son, I mean, who kept his hall on Ithaca."(Odysseus Homer 443)
Odysseus comes up with a plan of putting the cyclopes to sleep using wine, and one he finally falls asleep they stab him in the eye making him unable to see.
Unable to see in the morning, the Cyclops moves the boulder out of the door and checks to make sure that only the sheep are leaving. But Odysseus and his men hold the sheep over them to sneak past.
"Nohbdy, Nohbdy's tricked me, Nohbdys ruined me!" (Odysseus Homer 318)
Once they had escaped Odysseus starts to taunt the cyclopes Polyphemus and he prays to his father Poseidon to curse Odysseus to never see his home Ithical again.
