  • The two people that wrote Cato's Letters are unknown. They called themselves Cato the Elder and Cato the Younger. These newspaper editorials were published in the 1720s.
  • They wrote this because they wanted to argue against the king's heavy handed rule. They wanted to accomplish giving the people more freedoms and power, such as freedom of expression.
  • Their document let people know of the wrongs that the king was doing. It caused the people to stand up against his wrongdoings.
