Slavery was one of the main causes of the civil war. It was a problem because the North part of the United States didn't want slavery. They thought that it was just another way to be lazy and selfish. The South on the other hand wanted slavery because they got to sit back and relax while somebody else does there job for them.
GET TO WORK!!
When the sun come back,When the firs' quail call,Then the time is come, foller the drinkin' gou'd!!
Another reason for the war is a man named Dred Scott , known for the the Dred Scott Case. Basically the case was this, a n African American man named Dred Scott was basically free . He had been traveling through free states all hi s life so he went ahead and applied for his freedom . The first time he was denied but the case was repealed meaning it was sent to a higher court, He was then approved but the state repealed it . Later on he was granted his freedom.
Another very important reason of the war was the election of Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln lived in the North part of the Unites States and along with the rest of the Northerners he also hated slavery. He thought it was mean and cruel so when he was elected it immediately made the South angry because they knew he was going to try to get rid of slavery.
ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION
Another very very important reason was states right or the confederation. The constitution basically revoked some of the power because the states had too much power and authority. I'm guessing that the South was angry at this because they enjoyed having all the power.
As you can see above you have the North of the Unites States (&) below that you have the South of the United States. During the Compromise of 1850 the South hand the North decided to try to come together and decide what they were going to do about slavery. This wasn't a failure but it also wasn't a success because the South still wanted slavery.
The last main reason for the Civil War is the Nullification Crisis. The nullification crisis is basically the act of the South trying to pull away from the Union. The Union was the North and once again during this time the south and the north weren't getting along at this time so why not just go ahead and draw away.
