  • Its the interference of protein production that is needed to maintain healthy muscles.
  • What are some of the symptoms?
  • Symptoms can be muscle weakness, trouble breathing/swallowing, muscle pain, and cardiomyopathy. 
  • Are there any treatment options?
  • There are a few options. They could take medications, do therapy, use breathing aids, or even surgery.
  • Is it contagious?
  • No. Its actual inherited from your mother. 
  • Can you live a long life with Muscular Dystrophy?
  • People with this genetic condition have sadly shortened life spans.
  • To summarize: Muscular Dystrophy is a genetic mutation that causes the weaking of muscles and the loss of muscle mass. You inherited the gene from your mother. Symptoms can be evaluated by a doctor and treatment can help aid in muscle function as a temporary fix. Though a person with muscular dystrophy has a shorter life span.
