Today I am going to work with my mom. She is a stockbroker at the NYSE.
That means that I buy shares, or pieces of a company, for my clients.
How do you know if the stocks are doing well?
We use a piece of technology called a stock ticker, this screen displays the current stock prices and movement. When the stocks are doing well, it is called a bull market.
The NYSE is a stock exchange based in New York. It is considered the largest equities-based exchange in the world!
NYSE has many assets, these are things a company owns. For example the building where public companies are traded. Public companies are businesses that anyone can buy shares in.
Now we are in my mom's office. Today Apple is giving out dividends to its shareholders. This means that today my mom's clients are receiving extra money on top of their stocks earnings.
