Storyboard Text

  • ugh there is so much pollutionin the water:(
  • And all of the lobster traps that we have brought up are empty.
  • I wonder were all the lobsters are?
  • If you live in or around CT or NYC you are most likely living in a water shed that eventually leads to long island sound, and people who live within 50 miles of the coast heavily effect the sound.
  • I'll go get a scuba suit and take a look under water.
  • That means the things you pour down the drain, the things you use on your lawn and even the things you through away can end up in the sound.
  • oh no there is only one lobster down here
  • This effects all the animals that live in the sound. In the comic above the 2 characters are lobster men but when they pulled up their traps today all of them were empty.
  • I wonder were all the other ones went?
  • In the 1990's the sound produced around 4 million pounds of lobsters a a year. By 2014 that number had dropped to 135 thousand.
  • Pesticides are one of the biggest problems for lobsters, along with heavy metals that rot away the lobsters outer shell.
  • In the next few panels you will be learning different things you can do to protect the sound.
