  • Hello my name is Gene, I have traveled to the Tibet-Qinghai Plateau. is also known as the "roof of the world".  The Himalayas are located to the south of the plateau. Page # 214

  • Now I am in the Taklimakan Desert covers an area of about 105,000 square miles and is considered one of the most dangerous deserts. In fact it's name is once you go in you don't come out. pg # 215

  • The Gobi Desert stretches over 500,000 miles, the Gobi Desert is one of the largest deserts in the world. It covers part of china and present day Mongolia. The Gobi Desert has very few sand dunes. pg # 215
  • 
  • The Northeastern Plain is located east of present-day Mongolia. Today, this land of low hills and plains is sometimes called either Inner Mongolia or the Manchurian Plain. Most of the vegetation here is prairie grass. pg # 216
  • Temperatures range from very warm in the summer to quite cold in the winter.  This is sometimes called the Land Of The Yellow Earth because it is covered in yellow limestone silt which comes from the gobi dessert and is carried by the wind to North China Plain. pg # 217
  • The Chang Jiang Basins are areas of low, wet and coastal plains.  The basins are located along the river called the Chang Jiang. With hundreds of tributaries, this river is even longer than the Huang He as the name Chang jiang or Long River suggests. pg # 218
