Around 1000 revolutionaries marched towards the Bastille jail on July 14, 1789. Tensions in Paris began to grow after that. When King Louis despatched troops to Paris, the citizens dreaded a fight. As a result, they raided the Hotel des Invalides in search of muskets. Then, on that day, they assaulted the Bastille in order to obtain gunpowder so that they might fire their weapons. The governor and three other officers were also beheaded by rebels in the Bastille. The first day of the French Revolution was commemorated with this event.

The reign of terror began on September 5th, 1973, when a group of radical Parisians in the national convention petitioned the national parliament for "terror on the order of the day." The government aimed to intimidate and frighten away the country's external foes, which at the time were Austria and Prussia.

On the 21st of January 1793, King Louis XVI of France was publicly murdered by guillotine in Paris' Place de la Revolution. The reason King Louis XVI was killed was that he and his wife Marie Antoinette attempted to flee France while being held hostage in August 1792. However, they were apprehended on their way there. And because of a one-vote difference, King Louis XVI was sentenced to death by the guillotine for conspiring with foreign powers and being a traitor.

At the later stages of the reign of terror, Maximillien Robespierre started to lose a lot of his past influence and authority in French society and within the national convention. This is because the people think that Robespierre has too much power and his radical ideas made a lot of people die. In the final days, Robespierre was prosecuted and eventually arrested by the people as they wanted to end his reign of terror. On July 28, 1794, Robespierre was executed and his death marked to the end of the reign of terror, where he was the last victim of his reign of terror.

Napoleon Lost the battle of Leipzig in 1812. Returning to France with only about 30% of the soldiers left, he was thrown off of the throne, and that was the end of his reign.
