  • The Trojan War is famous for the Mycenaeans attack on Troy.
  • This battle took place at during the middle 1200s B.C.
  • Long after the attack on Troy me, Homer, a blind Greek poet wrote the poem Iliad.
  • According to Homer the war was fought over a woman named Helen.
  • They king of Troy had a son names Paris. He fell in love with Helen and took her to Troy.
  • The king became very angry and wanted to get Helen back. So he sailed to Troy. The only thing was is that the walls of Troy were too strong and he could not get in. So they had to camp outside the city walls.
  • Ten years had gone past and they were still fighting. So the Mycenaean's built a huge horse that hid their best soldiers inside. The rest sailed away, when they saw this they thought that they had won. Later Troy pulled the horse inside and then when they were sleeping they jumped out and opened the city gates. Soon letting the rest of the army inside and finally defeated Troy. Then with Helen, they returned home.
