  • Nearly a year later, Tree-Ear still works for the potter. The potter is tasked with becoming a royal potter, and has created his work, and now Tree-Ear must bring the work to the city of Song-do. Still, he longs to become a potter as well.
  • Tree-Ear says to Crane Man, his companion, that he will travel and Crane Man wishes him luck.
  • Good luck, my friend
  • Crane-Man, I must travel to the city of Song-do to present the emmisary with Min's work.
  • After stopping at towns, Tree-Ear must  stay in the wild for a night, where he encounters a fox, which means bad luck. He further stumbles upon robbers who leave him with just a single shard for the emissary.
  • Tree-Ear makes it to the busy city of Song Do, and shows the emissary the single shard he recovered from the robbers. The emissary grants Min a position just from the shard.
  • Tree-Ear returns, to find Crane Man dead from a bridge accident, but informs Min that he has been selected to be a royal potter. Min says he will teach Tree-Ear to throw pots.
