B.O. Flower (Benjamin Orange Flower) grew up in Albion, Illinois in 1858. His father and brother were both Protestant ministers, and he alike wanted to live up that.

When Flower graduated though, he took up unitarism. From that point on, Flower would go on to aspire towards solving the biggest moral/ethical issues with a common human purpose.
Shortly after getting married, Flower published The Arena in 1889. It was a political and literary magazine that sold over 10,000 copies. The Arena exposed and communicated ideas of social and moral reform.
The Arena's popularity grew, and Flower promoted his ideas with support from other muckrakers; like Upton Sinclair, Frank Norris, and Hamlin Garland.
Flower's work was effective, and inspirational! By 1893, people gave him the name "Father of the muckrakers". When he published Civilizations Inferno,
