  • I can't wait to be like my Dad and brother: following a path of religious faith.
  • I want to uncover all the ethical issues the common people have to dealt with!
  • Who's this new guy, B.O. Flower? Is he on our side?
  • Yes! He just published The Arena, which is spreading like crazy!
  • B.O. Flower (Benjamin Orange Flower) grew up in Albion, Illinois in 1858. His father and brother were both Protestant ministers, and he alike wanted to live up that.
  • Gentleman, with a common purpose as I, go forth with your journalism on promoting a fair and equal future for the common people of America.
  • When Flower graduated though, he took up unitarism. From that point on, Flower would go on to aspire towards solving the biggest moral/ethical issues with a common human purpose.
  • Shortly after getting married, Flower published The Arena in 1889. It was a political and literary magazine that sold over 10,000 copies. The Arena exposed and communicated ideas of social and moral reform.
  • The Arena's popularity grew, and Flower promoted his ideas with support from other muckrakers; like Upton Sinclair, Frank Norris, and Hamlin Garland.
  • Flower's work was effective, and inspirational! By 1893, people gave him the name "Father of the muckrakers". When he published Civilizations Inferno,
