Tecumseh was an Indian Shawnee leader who believed that Native Americans needed unification. Tecumseh's brother Tenskwatawa wanted Native Americans to follow their cultures.

Tecumseh's beliefs were becoming aggressive so the governor of the Indiana territory William Henry Harrison had to push them out by force. Harrison created a small army to fight. Tenskwatawa attacked first but Harrison's army won leaving many Native Americans dead and Tecumseh ran to Canada.

Oliver Perry secretly made a fleet to fight against Britain's fleet who was on Lake Erie. Perry's fleet won and America gained control over Lake Erie.
The Treaty of Ghent
American Military leaders were going to attack Canada. They attacked from three different angles but all three attacks failed. This was a big loss for the US.
A British fleet was attacking New Orleans. Andrew Jackson thought of a plan to use cotton bales to soak up the damage from the bullets. When America won that battle, Andrew Jackson became a hero.
The Treaty of Ghent was a peace negotiation that ended the war of 1812. No territories changed but America changed emotionally feeling a great sense of pride.
