Once upon a time there was a girl named Persephone. Her mother was the goddess of harvest,Demeter. Persephone's powers were when she leaped across any field "flowers sprang up."
Sorry the sun did not see anything
Hades took her
Persephone was going through the fields then suddenly the ground cracked open. Hades was standing there! His horse grabbed her and went back under. With all the commotion pigs from the meadow fell into the crack.
Give her back
Please get Persephone back
Hades brings Persephone to the underworld. "Dead souls crowded out from cracks and crevices to look at their new queen." Persephone was miserable, there was no sunshine, no flowers, and no birds. "There was only one tree" in the whole underground. It was a pomegranate tree! The gardener brought over a pomegranate for Persephone to try but she declined
I have to tell you something
For a long time Demeter is looking for her daughter. One day Demeter went to gray old woman who went to the spot the next day to "ask the sun" if he saw what happened. The sun said no the clouds blocked the face and view. Demeter kept looking when he met a boy named Triptolemus, he said "his brother, a swineherd" saw his pigs "disappear into the ground and had heard the frightened screams of a girl." Demeter then figured it out that Hades took her daughter!
With anger in Demeter's mind, she called Zeus and told him that she won't "make the earth green" again if he doesn't get Persephone back. Zeus brings down Hermes to rescue Persephone. Hades has to obey the command and let go of there new queen. Persephone happy to leave but a conflict arose.. the gardener in the corner saw that a few pomegranate seeds were missing!
The gardener knew that she "tasted the food of the dead" with those thoughts in her head she did not know what to do! Persephone went back up to earth. Her mother full of happiness was ready to start making the earth green again. But the only thing in Persephone's mind was that she ate the food of the dead and had to return to the underworld. Zeus then decided to make duw of this conflict, he knew mother and daughter should never be apart again. He told them Persephone had to go the underground for every seed she ate. When she left Demeter left the earth "cold", but when Persephone came back it was spring! Demeter then decided when Persephone was gone Triptolemus would teach men how to garden and produce food.
