  • Hey Nicole, what exactly is Identity Theft?
  • Identity theft is A crime in which an imposter obtains or wrongfully acquires key pieces of personally identifiable information such as social security or drivers licence numbers ,credit, or account information, in order to impersonate someone else.
  • Well how can thieves get an individual's info?
  • A few ways are stealing a purse/wallet, pretending to be the bank, the IRS or some other organization, attaching devices to card processors to steal credit or debit card info
  • How can individuals protect themselves?
  • Protect their social security number, financial information, safeguard wallet and purse, be careful on the internet

  • what should someone do if they are a victim to identity theft?
  • contact 3 major credit bureaus, close all accounts, file police report, and file a complaint with the FTC
