Storyboard Text

  • Cotton is grown and picked from fields, most of which are located in the US and in tropical regions.
  • The cotton is then transported to a facility to be spun, cleaned, bleached, and dyed into fibers and then fabric.
  • The fabric is sewn together to create your shirt!
  • The shirts are then transported, often long distances, to stores to be sold to consumers.
  • The shirts are typically worn for years until they are outgrown, ripped, or deemed out of style.
  • Once the t-shirts are no longer wanted, they are often donated to clothing drives, but most clothes eventually end up in landfills.
  • There, they take around 200 years to decompose, releasing methane in the process.
