  • Washington Sent Troops To The Ohio Valley To Gain The North West Territory.
  • In 1790, the first federal army sent an attack but took a pasting from the Native American soldiers led by Little Turtle.
  • The Native Americans united with the British.
  • After another defeat, Washington sent more troops with "Mad" Anthony Wayne at the head of the attack. Washingto sent these troops because he believed control of the west was critical to the safety of America and its settlers.
  • The other Native Americans decided to ignore Little Turtle's advice to negotiate so they replaced him with a worse leader.
  • The Native Amercians were pounded and retreated to Fort Miami. At Fort Miami they were pounded again so they gave up and surrendered their land to the Americans.
