The narrator shows up to the Usher House on behalf of old friends letter he received. He becomes aware of the spooky dark setting of the mansion and gloomy interior of the household. He then gets introduced to all of the members of the house and gets settled in for his short stay
The narrator is informed of lady Madeline's disease. Roderick Usher explains his mental disorder and how he has been dying to meet with him. Usher is having problems in his head with his sister's disease and believes it will end up killing him.
Lady Madeline "dies" and they bury her in a vault below the house. The vault hasn't been used in years and is very dark and cold. Roderick Usher is devastated and the situation is very unfortunate for the household as a whole.
Lady Madeline is still alive and comes out of the vault. Usher and the Narrator are absolutely shocked even though they both have been hearing suspicious noises suggesting she was still alive
After lady Madeline shows herself alive Usher rushes to her and she falls into his arms. They both die and the narrator is astonished and absolutely shocked.
Usher and Lady Madeline's deaths cause the narrator to run out of the house in terror. The house crumbles down to pieces following the last two members of the Usher family die.
