Polonius tells Claudius that Hamlet wants him to come and watch a play tonight
Polonius and Claudius arrange for Hamlet and Ophelia to meet to see if his love for her is causing his depression
Hamlet is questioning whether being alive is worth it and whether it is better to put up with his bad luck or put an end to it. Then Ophelia enters.
Ophelia tells Hamlet that she has brought some of the gifts he gave her and Hamlet denies ever giving her anything. He then tells her that he is no longer in love with her and begins to say all the bad things about himself. After speaking to him Ophelia thinks he has gone mad
