  • Rainsford is on his ship on the Caribbean Sea in the early 20th century. He goes past Ship Trap Island, wondering why it's called that.
  • Climax
  • Rainsford falls overboard off the yacht. He keeps calm and swims to the island, not having anywhere else to go.  There, he meets General Zaroff.
  • Falling Action
  • Rainsford and Zaroff talk, discussing big game. Rainsford discovers Zaroff is hunting humans, and knows he has to do something. Zaroff won't just let him go, so he sends him out to be hunted. He has three days, and if he survives, Zaroff will let him go.
  • Resolution
  • Rainsford kills Zaroff's guard, Ivan, but knows he can't win and hides. Zaroff leaves, believing he is dead. Rainsford jumps into the water and swims back to the island. 
  • Rainsford gets into the mansion and targets Zaroff. They make an agreement that whoever wins a fight survives. The other would die. 
  • Rainsford defeats Zaroff in a fight and sleeps in his bed, knowing no one else will die at Zaroff's hands.
