  • Two thousand years ago the Romans conquered Palestine and insisted that the Jews obey Roman laws and worship Roman gods.  
  • In 70 AD Jews failed to revolt against Roman rule and lost their center Jerusalem  and its temple
  • By the sixth century, Jews could not hold public office, employ christian servants or slaves. or even show themselves in the streets during Holy week. 
  • By the Thirteenth century, the church leaders in Germany required that all Jews wear a cone-shaped hats.
  • By the sixteenth century, there were divisions  within Christian Europe
  • In 1523, Luther had hope to convert many Jews to Christianity. He told his followers to treat Jews in a brotherly manner.
