Odysseus came searching for Tiresias with a lamb. He sacrificed it to hear what Tiresias had to say.
"Then i addressed the blurred and breathless dead, vowing to slaughter my best heifer for them...as for Tiresias, i swore to sacrifice a black lamb the handsomest of our flock..(Homer 388)."
Odysseus killed the lamb and spirits came surrounding him.
"I pledged these rites, then slashed the lamb and ewe..now souls gathering, stirring out of Erebus, brides and young men...(Homer 388)".
Odysseus saw his old crew member Elpanor. He told him he is in hell because they did not bury him.
"One shade came first-Elpenor, of our company who lay unburied still on the wide earth as we left him-dead in circe hall, untouched, unmourned..(Homer 388)".
Tiresias comes and tells Odysseus his future what the challenges he will face.
"Great captain, a fair wind and the honey lights of home are all you seek. But anguish lies ahead; the god who thunders on the land prepares it,..(Homer 390)".
Tiresias tells him he will have a difficult time crossing the sea because he hurt Polyphemus, Poseidon's son.
"not to be shaken by your track , implacable, in rancor for the son whose eye you blinded.(Homer 390)".
