  • Myth of Romulus and Remus 
  • Influence of Etruscan engineering 
  • Rome is located on the Italian peninsula. It is shaped like a boot and it is right in the middle of the Meditranian sea.
  • Influence of Etruscan sports 
  • The kings daughter had two twin boys, but the king felt that the boys would one day steal his thrown. So he sent men to kidnap the boys and drown them in the Tiber river, but they were saved by a wolf, when they grew older they decided to start a city on the Tiber river. Once it was built they brothers fought  over who should rule the city and name it after them. Eventualy Romulus killed his brother and namrd thr city Rome.
  • Influence of Greek architecture 
  • The Romans took many ideas from the Etruscans, they even copied some of their engineering, they built aquaducts just like the Etruscans.
  • Influence of Greek art, religion and writting
  • The Romans made a a big theater to preform sports for entertainment. They did chariot races, slave exicutions, and they had people fight wild animals like lions and tigers. They got these ideas from the Greek olympics. 
  • the Romans used the columns that the Greeks used. They also got the idea to make a giant theater which was two Greek theaters put together. This was called the Roman colusseum which is one of the biggest acheivments in history.
  • The greeks believed in Greeks gods who they believed controled / were in charge of certain things in the world. The Romans decided to take thoes gods and give them different names, but they still belived in them the same way. The Romans were also inspired by the Greek alphabet and used the same letters.
