  • The Cubans burned all of the Americans sugar farms to get their attention and try to get them to intervene in the war.

  • The U.S.S. was gaurding a port in Cuba. The ship blew up and sank killing 250 Americans. Everyone in the U.S. blamed this on the Spanish as an excuse to get into the war.
