A student learns about the reconstruction era from a teacher
SO what was the importance of the reconstruction era exactly?
Well see reconstruction was when the U.S. had to rebuild after the civil war and took place mainly between 1865 to 1877
OK. so this also must have been when things like the ratifying of the civil war amendments and the founding of the freedman bureau took place
Yeah and remember the main purpose of the freedman bureau was to ensure that slaves freed by the 13th amendment were able to get relief, jobs, and fair treatment
This also was when the radical republicans, the group of republicans who wanted to destroy all prejudice against black people right?
Yes and this part of the republican party was formed by republicans such as Lincoln and Thaddeus Stevens
Weill one of that most well known would probably be the KKK which mainly attacked black eople because thye thought white poepl are superior
Also I was wondering what some groups that mainly terrorize people would be at that time
Well see since the south had a large portion of their econonmy involve slve labor when it became illegal to own slaves the south took a big hit to their economy and had to work to find people who can work in the feild and other things like that
Lastly I was wondering what economic changes occurred during the reconstruction
