Long long ago, during the Hung King dynasty, Vietnam was a very small kingdom which didn’t have many types of fruit. Until a Orphan adopted by the King changed that.
The King wanted Mai An Tiêm to become the successor even though he was just an orphan.
One day, the orphan invited the King's Princes over for a feast. The youngest prince was jealous and told the king the orphan was rude and arrogant.
The king was angry and forced Mai and his family to a deserted island as punishment. Although Mai accepted his fate, he was still sad and confused. He then raised his family on the island.
One day, a bird flew by and dropped black seeds from its mouth. Mai then planted the seeds and it grew into watermelons. Vietnam never had watermelons so it was a foreign fruit. Fisherman started to come by just to purchase this delicious fruit. The king then found out about it and asked who discovered it.
Mai and his family was invited back to the kingdom after the King found out that his orphan was not arrogant or mean at all. To pay respects, the king planted Watermelons all over the kingdom for Mai
