  • The Detroit Riot Race took place on June 20, 1943. Groups of whites and blacks fought each other over false rumors along with vandalism and many arrests.
  • On December 7, 1941, the date that will live in infamy, the Japanese had a surprise military attack at Pear Harbor.
  • Mexican Americans became guest workers in the Bracero Program to fill positions in farming of those who were fighting in WWII.
  • Scientists of the OSRD worked the Manhattan Project which was a top secret program to build an atomic bomb.
  • Women were a big source of entertainment during the War by making a women's baseball league.
  • The government gave people coupons for what they could for rationing efforts. This saved food to be sent to war front.
