The conch represents order, and encourages the boys to have respect and patience for each other. At the time where they respected the conch there were no problems but as they began to no respect it, problems arose.
The fire was kind of like a source of faith, because as long as is burned they believed had a chance at being saved, as they got lazy and stopped burning the fire they began to believe they wouldn't be saved and it began to cause problems.
They start to become lazy and content with where they are at as they begin to move further and further away from civilization. They first let the fire out and then don't finish the shelters and become lazy and become more savage
When simon is killed, I believe is a big move from civilization to savagery, how do you go back to civilization knowing you killed someone? Definitely changes people.
When they split into two groups, just causes more problems and moving more savage towards eachother
I believe when and how they kill the pig is the ultimate transition from civilization to savagery.
