- Amaya is a teenage girl who believes she is ready to go on a vision quest, and begin her journey as an adult. Her first step is to consult the Shaman.

- Amaya is in the sweat lodge where she confesses (or attones) for her wrongs. At the sweat lodge Amaya will be purified, and will be ready to go to her sacred place and meet her spirit animal.

- The Shaman went on his way home after telling Amaya she must search for her sacred place on her own in order find her spirit animal.

- Shaman I heard a loud roar, and I was sure it was my spirit animal, and it was! It was a cute dog. what does that mean?
- Ah yes a dog. your spirit animal represents unconditional love, loyalty, and respect. Fits you perfectly because I know how loyal you are to your people and family.
- Amaya felt a deep connection with the small desert area she entered, and instantly knew this is the sacred place she was searching for.As soon as she entered this land she got on her knees and began to pray and fast. This took her 3 days. (her vision)
- On the third night Amaya heard a monstrous roar echo all around her. Once she heard the roar she knew that it is time her spirit animal chose to show itself. Amaya searched everywhere but did not seem to find her spirit animal even after being sure the roar was her spirit animal. Once again when Amaya turned around Amaya noticed her spirit animal running towards her. She saw a cute dog and wondered "he made all that noise?" (her vision)
- After finding her spirit animal Amaya ran home and told the Shaman exactly what she saw, and the Shaman told her what it meant.
